Sao Paulo, Brazil [cont'd]
The InstaSnake was used as our input channels outside of the stage (4 channels): our main pair (Neuman KM183 omnis, A-B configuration, behind/up the conductor) and our room pair (MBHO MBP 604 w/ KA 1000 LK omnis, A-B configuration, back/up audience). Both pairs were hung with the usual mic cables that were connected to the Insta-Snakes. On stage we used our usual multi-cable/medusa (12 – 16 channels)
The Ethernet cable went from the mid of the theater’s roof to the stage far-corner (receiving unit). It was a 20-30m path close to light cables, ACs – a very problematic area. The Ethernet cable came to our rack connecting with another InstaSnake which was connected directly to mic preamps: Millennia M-2b Tube (for KM183s) and Grace m201 (for MBHOs).
We happily noticed there was no noise, hum or any other artifact or issues – problems could have happened as the Ethernet cable was so close to the lights and ACs especially with the MBHO mics which are so purist in design they have no protection against such problems…but NONE!
Not only was the sound clean, it was excellent sound, better than past experiences with such mics and preamps used in this theater. Using the InstaSnakes, it is so much easier, lighter and faster to set up, handle and transport!
I’m very happy and satisfied; it’s really an excellent product!!! At the end of this month we will complete the second recording using the same setup. We will also use the same stage for a piano recording using this system. I must really thank you for everything!" Eduardo Avellar, Avellaria Studio, Sao Paulo/SP – Brazil
